We’re highlighting small businesses from around the country as nominated by you, our readers. If your favorite small business is using Twitter to communicate with customers, let us know about it @fbsmallbiz with the hashtag #mysbc, and it may be featured as an upcoming Small Business of the Day.
Small Business of the Day: Resoomay
Who: Robert Petti, 26, @resoomay
What : Resoomay provides a plug-in for companies to record and playback user generated content to connect job applicants and employers.
"We’re basically a front-end version of Youtube. Rather than video playback, we enable you to record video for job interviewing and offer live streaming of events. You can put us anywhere, on anything, and what you want to do with that from there is at your discretion.”
When: The company officially began in April 2011, but Petti and his team have been working on the idea since 2010.
How: Prior to starting up the company, Petti says, “I was working as a consultant for a logistics company and my partner was director of technology at a creative agency. “
Where: New York City
Biggest lesson learned from a customer: “Listen to the customer. Figure out what they want rather than telling them. Originally, we spent a lot of time instilling our will on the customer rather than listening to what they wanted and needed-but in reality, we didn’t have a clue. So changing our mindset from internal products-focused to external customer-focused enabled us to grow pretty quickly.”
